Digital X-Ray
Fast, high-resolution digital radiography for bones, chest, abdomen, and beyond. No film — images are transmitted digitally to your referring physician promptly.
What to Bring
- Your physician's requisition / referral
- Provincial health card (Saskatchewan Health Card)
- Any previous imaging reports (if relevant)
- A list of current medications if asked
How to Prepare
- Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing
- Remove jewellery and metal accessories before your visit
- No special fasting or diet prep required for most X-rays
- Inform staff if you are or may be pregnant
What to Expect
- Most X-ray appointments take 15–30 minutes
- A technologist will position you for the images
- You'll be asked to hold still briefly during each exposure
- Results are sent directly to your referring physician

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral?
Yes. A requisition from your physician, nurse practitioner, or specialist is required before your appointment.
Is X-ray safe?
Digital X-ray uses a very low dose of radiation. The benefits for accurate diagnosis greatly outweigh the minimal risk for most patients.
When will my doctor get the results?
Digital imaging allows us to transmit your report to your referring physician promptly — typically within 1–2 business days.
What should I tell staff before the exam?
Let us know if you are pregnant or may be pregnant, have implanted devices (pacemakers, etc.), or have had recent surgeries.
Ultrasound
Safe, non-invasive diagnostic imaging using high-frequency sound waves — no radiation. Used to examine organs, soft tissues, blood vessels, and more. Coming to Well Imaging Services soon.
What to Bring

- Any previous ultrasound or imaging reports
How to Prepare
- Preparation varies by exam type — your requisition will specify
- Abdominal ultrasounds often require fasting 4–6 hours beforehand
- Pelvic ultrasounds often require a full bladder
- Wear comfortable, two-piece clothing for easy access
What to Expect
- Appointments typically take 20–45 minutes
- A warm gel is applied to the skin for the transducer
- Completely painless — no radiation involved
- Results sent directly to your referring physician
